Trustees elect new Board Chair

London Trustee Lori-Ann Pizzolato has been elected Chair of the Thames Valley District School Board. Chair Pizzolato was elected as a Trustee in October 2018, representing London Wards 1, 11, 12 and 14.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged public education like never before,” said Chair Pizzolato. “As we work toward reopening schools, we must be keenly focused on mitigating any impacts on student achievement, as well as the health and mental wellness of students.

“As Chair, I will continue to advocate for students and families as we strive to provide the highest quality learning experience for all students.”

The election was held at a Special Meeting of the Board on June 1, 2021, after Oxford County Trustee Bill McKinnon stepped down as Chair of the Board. Trustee McKinnon began a leave of absence for health reasons on May 1, 2021 and will resume his duties as Trustee on July 1.

“I wish to thank Chair McKinnon for his service to the Board and his commitment to public education and to Vice-Chair Meagan Ruddock for assuming the duties of Chair during Trustee McKinnon’s absence,” added Chair Pizzolato.

Chair Pizzolato, a partner in a local geological consulting firm, has held various roles within secondary and elementary School Councils and Home & School Associations, including President and Chair.
